Classics Club: A Christmas Carol

Yay for me! Another Classics Club book off of the list! For those who aren’t familiar The Classics Club is a challenge to pick classics (at least 50) and read them all over the next 5 years. For those who read my initial list you know it’s more of a “books I always wanted to read or re-read.” Most of my list is re-reads of books I either loved as a kid or want to re-vist, books I was supposed to read, and books that I love the author and want to experience more of their work. The plan is to have my list of 50 all read by December 28, 2020.

Top Ten Book Recommendations

toptentuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week’s theme is Top Books I read because someone recommended them to me. So I thought it’d be fun to do the top books I’ve read because my mom recommended them to me. For the longest time I got almost all of my book recommendations from my mom. Even now if there is popular book out we both want to read we take turns reading them first and reporting back to see if it’s actually worth it. Growing up, both of my parents read a lot so I grew up just grabbing books off of their shelves that looked interesting. Mostly my dad just tosses random memoirs my way (which are almost always fantastic) but it’s my moms recommendations that are always perfect. So below are the top ten books she’s thrown at me recently.

Challenge Update: July 2016

So I’m now about 7 months into my challenges and I realized it’s been 5 months since I posted an update. With my slack on reading I  figured now would be a good time to update everything and see if the progress can inspire me to pick up a good book. If anyone has any recs to read when suffering a book hangover tell me please!

Challenge Update: Feb 2016

So it’s been about two months since I declared my challenge numbers (not that they’re super intense or difficult in any way). I think doing an update every two months (at least for my goals) is better than every month. In February I didn’t read a single Classic so my Classics Club update would be super boring and would probably get repetitive every month. Hopefully spacing out means there is some actual updates *fingers crossed*
